REALTIME ULTRASOUND IN PILATES
What is Realtime Ultrasound (RTUS)?
Realtime ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging tool that allows your physiotherapist to view your deep core and pelvic floor muscles while they work. It provides a live picture showing how effectively you’re activating these muscles. This provides good feedback for both the physiotherapist and the client regarding how these muscles are working.
How Body Lab Use RTUS to Assist Clinical Pilates Assessment
At Body Lab, RTUS is seamlessly integrated into your assessment. Your physiotherapist may use ultrasound to:
Assess the function of the transversus abdominis and pelvic floor
Teach correct deep core activation
Monitor progress throughout your program
Confirm safe progression to higher-level Pilates exercises
Support rehabilitation involving abdominal separation, pelvic pain, or spinal injuries
This ensures your Clinical Pilates program is based on accurate, objective information—not guesswork.
Benefits of RTUS in Clinical Pilates Assessments
RTUS helps:
Identify whether the deep core muscles are being activated correctly
Detect compensations or unwanted muscle patterns
Provide immediate visual feedback to help you learn correct technique
Improve confidence in pelvic floor and abdominal engagement
Guide more accurate, personalised exercise programming
Book a Class.
As the availability of permanent spots in our classes is ever changing, we recommend you call the clinic to discuss where there is availability. Casual classes can be booked via our Mind Body app, and you can put yourself on waitlists for classes that are full so that you are the first to know when a spot becomes available. Please note however, that you are required to do a Pilates Assessment prior to joining a class, even if it is on a casual basis.
